Privacy Policy
Data Collection
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Here's what data we collect:
- Bookmark titles, URLs, folder structure, creation dates, and Chrome sync status from the current Chrome profile
- Optional browser history matches only after you grant the history permission while starting an analysis
- When you start a link check, the HTTP status, final destination URL, and at most a one-byte response sample from each selected destination
- Link-check results, language preference, and a local Mac App connection token stored in Chrome local extension storage
- No account registration, advertising identifier, analytics telemetry, or developer-server upload is required
How We Use Your Data
The data we collect is used to:
- Generate the bookmark analysis report and the categories you explicitly open
- Estimate recent visible visits when you choose to grant Chrome history access
- Carry out bookmark sorting, moving, URL cleanup, and deletion only after your explicit action
- Remember completed link checks and your interface language on this device
Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- Bookmark and history analysis runs locally in the extension and is not uploaded to our servers
- The optional Mac App connection uses only 127.0.0.1 on the same computer and verifies the official extension ID
- Link checks omit credentials and referrers, prefer HEAD, and use a one-byte Range GET only when a site does not support HEAD
- The extension does not download or execute remotely hosted code
- Use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements
Data Sharing
Information about how we share your data:
- We do not sell bookmark, history, or link-check data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers
- When you start a link check, the extension contacts the selected bookmarked website directly; that website may receive the normal network information needed to answer the request
- No developer-operated server receives bookmark titles, URLs, history matches, or analysis results
Data Retention
How long we keep your data:
- Bookmarks and history remain managed by Chrome and are not copied to a developer-operated server
- Link-check results and preferences remain in Chrome local extension storage until you clear them or uninstall the extension
- Bookmark changes are applied through Chrome APIs and may sync to other devices when Chrome Sync is enabled
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Deny or revoke the optional history and website permissions in Chrome at any time
- Clear local extension data or uninstall Chromate to remove saved link-check results and preferences
- Review every proposed move, edit, or deletion before it changes your bookmarks
